In October, Ascend at the Aspen Institute hosted ThinkXChange, a national forum where more than 200 innovators gathered to advance the two-generation (2Gen) approach. This approach simultaneously addresses the needs of parents and children, creating holistic strategies that promote family well-being. Ascend describes the 2Gen model as a way to “center the whole family to create a legacy of educational success and economic prosperity that passes from one generation to the next.”
PCSLA’s Executive Director, Liza Bray, presented at the “Secret Sauce of Social Capital” panel, which explored ways to integrate social capital—people’s network of family and friends they rely on for support—into programs and policies to improve family outcomes. Alongside other leaders, Liza discussed how organizations can help families build these supportive connections to create more sustainable communities.
Liza also shared insights on PCSLA’s pioneering Early Childhood System of Care, which unites service providers in South Los Angeles in an unprecedented collaboration to address long-standing barriers to service access. By fostering these connections, PCSLA is transforming service delivery and supporting meaningful change for children and families in South LA.
