To kick off the 2024 school year, PCSLA held its inaugural Back-to-School Health & Wellness Event at St. Raphael Catholic Church and School. Over 200 children and families from South LA enjoyed a day filled with fun activities and essential resources. The event featured a food truck, an ice cream station, yoga classes, a flower planting workshop, poetry sessions, health and vision screenings, and music. Every child received a backpack filled with school supplies.

Father Stan of St. Raphael Catholic Church expressed his gratitude to PCSLA Executive Director Liza Bray for the event and PCSLA’s partnership, stating, “It amazes me how you, Maggie, and the Partners for Children South LA team wrap around our community here and all over South LA. You transmit unconditional love and care for us and our families. Your capacity to build bridges and network with so many healing partners is an inspiration.”
PCSLA plans to continue the back-to-school tradition for years to come and welcomes donations and in-kind support.
